Southern Regional Medical Center d/b/a Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center is owned by Hospital Service District No. 1 of the Parish of Terrebonne, a political subdivision of the State of Louisiana, and managed by Ochsner Health System.
Since 1978 Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center (LJCMC) has been caring for the underserved in the region. In addition to this mission, the hospital was established as a graduate medical teaching facility to provide clinical training for physicians, nurses and allied health personnel. Learn more about the residency program.
LJCMC is a 156 bed licensed acute care facility accredited by the Joint Commission providing both primary and secondary levels of care. Inpatient and outpatient services include radiology, laboratory, emergency medicine, physical rehabilitation, pediatrics, oncology, pulmonary/critical care medicine, cardiology, urology, orthopedics, surgery, and psychiatric care. LJCMC’s physician group South Louisiana Medical Associates(SLMA) is comprised of multiple specialties providing clinic and hospital services.
In May 2013 a public/private partnership between Ochsner Health and Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) was initiated. Ochsner and TGMC worked collaboratively to develop sustainable solutions to deliver crucial safety-net services for the region and preserve academic training at LJCMC.
Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center continues its long tradition as a safety-net provider for the underserved in the region while achieving unprecedented access, service, and quality of care for its patients.

I was rushed to Terrebonne General with slurred speech and the left side of my face dropping. They sent me home with the diagnosis of "Heat Stroke". Chabert found a blockage in my carotid artery. Thanks to my PD nurse Jennifer and Doctor Gupta for catching my symptoms I didn't realize was happening now I will get the medical attention I really need. Thanks Dr. Alan Arcemont as well, for listening to my symptoms and not brushing me off.

Being sick is stressful and can be annoying but when a healthcare professional is considerate and pleasant, it makes a huge difference. Ms. C. Coleman (can’t recall the spelling of her first name) was extremely helpful and helped to ease the process. All it takes is a smile and kind words sometimes. Thank you

Chabert is and up and coming hospital. When I was young I always knew it as a charity place that barely had anyone seen in a timely manner but as of late it has stepped its game up. I would recommend this hospital over TGMC any day of the week. The staff are passionate & allow you to feel seen.

Short to no wait time for blood work. Everyone working was Profesional and friendly. I'd recommend this hospital over any other close by not only because of great customer care they are willing to work on your treatment plan with input from you!! Parking is right outside the door which makes for a quick walk to the inside. Mask are required until the mandate is lifted which brings peace of mind. If your looking for a care with quick and efficiency this is the one for you. Its no longer the charity hospital its the peoples hospital serving all

Vivian took my phone call when I called today looking for my uncle who had an accident. We live out of state so we aren't familiar with the location of the hospitals etc. We called around trying to find him and everyone was really kind and helpful. I'm leaving this review because Vivian was so helpful. She was cordial on the phone, very kind, understanding, and at the same time very helpful and kind to the people walking in asking for help. She helped direct them while looking for my uncle in their system. She advised me that University Medical Center may be the place to call, but also said I should call the ambulance company that could have picked him up to find out where they took him and that's how we ended up finding him. I am so grateful to you Vivian for taking the time to give us options that could help us. You made a difference today and believe you will continue to do so. God bless you and everyone else that helped us today.

THESE PEOPLE SAVED MY LIFE!! After years of lower back pain, endless tests and poor or⁶ incorrect diagnosis and treatment, I came in for pre-op for a urological issue. I had not been gone from the Hospital an hour when I received a call stating that I needed to return at 8 the following morning. Upon entering the office I was told that there were some irregularities in my urine sample I had given and was referred upstairs for an x-ray, and MRI. I returned the following morning and after being seated was shown a monitor. My eyes immediately fixated on a large black spot on what I thought it was an image of my kidney. I asked the doctor is that what I think it is he says what are you think it is I said cancer he said yes. It turned out to be a 12 CM Mass which should have metastasized at 5 cm moving into my lungs. My lungs are clear and I was told that I needed surgery and they would try to do part of the kidney probably the whole kidney had to be removed. This is a Wednesday morning. The surgeon that would do this type of procedure had a previous engagement that weekend which he canceled in order to do my nephrectomy on Friday morning. The surgery was a success and two and a half years later I still have no other cancer in my body. I can never fully express my gratitude to the staff, urologist and the surgeon that were involved in my care. Thank you for my life.
