Owned by St. Bernard Parish government, St. Bernard Parish Hospital offers comprehensive outpatient care and accepts medical orders from all healthcare providers. Outpatient services, including imaging, X-ray, endoscopy, cardiopulmonary services and lab are convenient and easily accessible with little or no waiting time with an appointment. The Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, conveniently located on the first floor of the medical office building, offers physical, speech and occupational therapies for adults and children. Our rehab center is the only one in the area that offers all three rehabilitation services under one roof.
Inpatient care is comfortable with 40 all-private spacious rooms that accommodate visits by family and friends. Our surgical suites have everything that a physician needs in medical staffing and technology. In addition, our hospital has a well-equipped intensive care unit (ICU) and a 24/7 emergency department with physicians certified in emergency care.
St. Bernard Parish Hospital has over 100 credentialed physicians and many physicians have offices conveniently located in the medical office building next to the hospital. The medical office building also includes administrative offices.
Our hospital has national certification by The Joint Commission, which ensures that we meet the highest standards in the healthcare industry. Information
Our St. Bernard Parish Hospital has an operator on staff Monday- Friday 6 a.m. - 7 p.m. that answers the phone for the main line, 504-826-9500. After 7 p.m., our security team and house supervisors answer this number. A greeter is available Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. to assist in the hospital outpatient area. To be connected to any department or to get information on specific visiting hours before you arrive, please call 504-826-9500.
Medical Records
Your record is always available to you to view, download and share in your MyOchsner patient portal account. To obtain copies of the medical record outside of MyOchsner, the patient's written authorization must be signed and dated and must include the name and address of the individual who is to receive the copies of the record, the information requested and the treatment dates. Obtain your release of information form here.
Our medical records office is also located on the first floor and staff are available to assist with any medical record needs.
Language Services
Language services are available to patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 1-833-896-6586. Additionally, your care team may request in-person or virtual interpreter support during a visit for both limited English proficiency and deaf/hard of hearing patients.
Patient & Provider Advocacy
The Patient and Provider Advocacy department serves as a mediator for patients on issues like advance directives, HIPAA and requests (appointments, medication refills, etc.). Patient and Provider Advocacy also supports Ochsner’s compliance with Patient Rights & Responsibilities, provides policy interpretation and advice on institutional practices. To reach our advocates at any location, please call 1-844-959-HEAR (4327) or email PatientAdvocate@ochsner.org.

St. Bernard Parish Hospital Cafe'
Located on the first floor of the hospital, our cafeteria is open:
- Breakfast: Monday - Friday, 7 a.m.-10 a.m.
- Lunch: Monday - Friday, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Vending Machines
The vending machines room is located on the first floor of the hospital lobby outside the café and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Visually impaired services
All elevators and many other public areas have braille signage to assist those with visual impairments. We can also provide visitors with an audio recording of patient rights and responsibilities, advanced directives and the Ochsner mission statement.

I had my first visit at SBPH in October of 2020 for weight loss surgery consultation. From the moment I walked through the doors everyone was friendly, helpful and happy! From the lady taking my temperature to the front desk scheduler to the nurse to the doctor everyone was so professional and friendly. Since my initial visit I have switched over my PCP, Gyno + Diabetes doctor to SBPH! The care I have received has been amazing. I live on the Northshore, however the small drive is totally worth it. I have raved so much about my experience that my dad also switched his PCP to SBPH! 10/10 would recommend.

Dr. Laura Matrana is the best diabetes doctor, Dr. Amanda OB/GYN is also the best and last but not least is Dr. Thien primary care doctor awesome. Overall 5 stars I am being taking good care of now.

We went into the ER for a bad burn from hot wax exploding on my mothers hand. She has second degree burns. Tammy in the ER took EXCELLENT care of my mother, she has an amazing personality, and a beautiful bedside manner! Tammy is what striving for excellence and great care looks like by going above and beyond for her patients! Please hire more caring, humble, and personable nurses like Tammy and your hospital scores/metrics will increase tremendously! She’s an amazing chick! ❤️

I went to the ER thinking i may be having a stroke so was seen right away. The staff made me feel comfortable and relaxed even thought it was a stressful event. They did a CT and MRI to make sure everything was OK. I would come here every time without any second thoughts! Great place!

I was rushed to St. Bernard Parish Hospital to ER. It was later diagnosed as a stroke. The staff was impeccable. After having to be admitted, the care and attention was superb. Should another emergency occur, I will definitely choose St. Bernard Parish Hospital

Garrett was my nurse for this visit! He really took awesome care of me from the moment I walked into the back of the ER! He has a warm and welcoming personality. They seen bout me. Im thankful it wasnt busy and i was in the room fast and treatments began immediately. He listened and reacted quick and i was not feeling nauseous anymore but still hurting in the stomach. They didnt not check to make sure i wasnt having a blockage but left with prescriptions. We have to take better care of our health. I would go there again because of how they treated me but my concerns for my issues was not resolved to me regardless what the results say. I loved their services though.

Their whole staff is super friendly they make the experience of having to go to the hospital less anxious. From Xrays to ER dept. which was quick, kind and courteous (wasn't injured too bad, thankfully), and to small procedure I had done, the nurses made me feel so comfortable like they actually care that I was nervous. The doctors and even the staff who work at check-in and other counters, all trained very well and attentive and professional and intelligent. Anyone would hope they don't have to visit a hospital at all or often or ever again.. I think they realize this and try their best to make everything as pleasant as possible.

I'm impressed with this place. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful. The place is clean and feels modern. The staff that did my procedure Monday went above and beyond for me. I normally aim to be one of my medical teams less stressful patients but on this day, I was having a panic attack and my manners weren't exactly front and center. I was unfairly curt with people who were only trying to help. Despite that, they were incredibly kind and helped me with my fears over the procedure. No one was pushing me or trying to minimize my feelings. They helped me through the panic attack. We got the test done and I was an emotional wreck. I didn't get to thank them for all their support. I want them and others to know that there's some really wonderful medical professionals working here. I would choose to come back here for any future procedures and I think I'd be a lot less anxious knowing that if I did reach that point, I would be treated as a person and not an inconvenience to their schedule (which is a feeling I've gotten from some other hospitals.) Good people.
