I arrived in the early am hours and my wife tried to drop me at the ER door but of course I’m like “it’s ok, I’ll walk”. Long story short, I passed out in the parking lot giving my wife the scare of her life. A stranger that came out to the parking lot tried with my wife to get me up and that wasn’t happening. He ran for help and the ER crew peeled me off the sidewalk and got me to triage. It was quite the entrance. ER DOCS & STAFF They quickly assessed me to make sure it wasn’t a stroke or heart attack. There were so many bodies around me on a stretcher in the hallway and I remember an emergency room doc coming up saying “I was really sick, but he had me“. My ER doc was Dr. Scott Sulik. SURGICAL TEAM There are doctors you choose and some you just get in your time of need. I can’t say enough about my surgical team led by Dr. Jeffanne Millien. Her and her staff of Residents were amazing. Dr. Mitchell & Dr. Sean Robinson were the only two names I remember, but the whole team was great. Being in the SICU (Surgical Intensive Care unit) its just non-stop, is brutal, it’s a 24-hour machine that doesn’t stop, but I can’t say enough about the level of my care from the surgical team. Next I want to talk about the Surgical ICU NURSING TEAM where I spent 6 days: First was Lindsy. I was in really rough shape and had two sterile procedures done in the room. I only had her for one shift, but it was when I was in the worse shape and I appreciate her so much. Next was Bria and I had her every night. She is an amazing caretaker, there for me every night of my stay as I tried to get comfortable which is a losing battle in the SICU. Next was Sarah, I think I only had her for one day but was there when I came back from surgery. When I was discharged, she’s was at the door to greet me with fist bumps as I was being rolled out of my room. Next is William, What a great young man fresh out of nursing school, I think the future of nursing is in good hands with him. Unfortunately for him, he had the task of removing my NG tube, my catheter, and the central line in my neck. He performed all those tasks professionally and compassionately. I can’t say enough about how impressed I was with this young man. Lastly, Dennis. We didn’t get to spend too much time together, but he was in charge of discharging me. By the time he came on at 7am Monday I was dressed and in a chair, watching the news, because I was going home, one way or another that day. He went through all my discharge info with my wife & I. I think ANY of the RNs who are part of the SICU team are exceptional. Walking into Oschner, I had no idea the level of care that I would receive. I can’t begin to tell you how thankful I am to have had the caretakers that I had during my stay. I’m so glad we drove by other hospitals to get to the Oschner Main Campus!

I went to urgent care for a cough that was not going away, and found out that I had a collapsed lung. They sent me to ochsner ER then the 8 floor of metsurge. THE BEST CARE EVER!!! Let me start by saying MS. ANGELA my day time nurse, was my guardian angel. She needs a raise. I never had to ask for a thing it was like she was a mother taking care of her daughter. My own mother could not be there because she was going through radiation, but Ms.Angela made those 9 days feel like I was in a room at my own home. Ms. ALICIA was my overnight nurse and she made sure I was well taken care of and was a listening ear. The whole staff was amazing from Dai, Juan, Nia, Juanita, Karrie, Karshandra, Jay, Sadie and charge nurse Megan. Even my dietary team Alonzo and Alisa were always warm and welcoming. These are the people who not only show up but they love what they do and you can feel it!! Thank you Met-surge Team yall are the best!!! Jawanda 8082

A dear friend has been in the Ochsner MTSU wing (8th floor / West Tower) on the main campus dealing with some very severe health issues. I have to say that I have been amazed with the care, the genuine concern and the attitude of every employee we have come cross at Ochsner. This is truly a wonderful hospital full of good, dedicated people. I could not be more impressed.

I want to shine a light on Dr Martin in the peds ER. He is amazing truly. My daughter’s heart could’ve went bad if it wasn’t for him truly taking his time with her and going through every symptom. He ended up diagnosing her with a rare disease and he was correct. With him doing that we were able to treat her so her heart does not go into failure. I wish they had Daisy Awards for physicians. Doctor Martin in the Pediatric ED is the best!!!!!! I cannot thank him enough. I’ve been to the ER multiple times with my doctor her whole life but he made an impact! We need more physicians like him!!! Thank you!

I spent a couple of weeks at this hospital with my wife. The doctors were great but I want to bring something to yall attention that might need to be investigated. After I returned home to Mississippi my checking account/ debit card was hacked .... over $4k gone... The only place i had used my card prior to that was in the cafeteria every day. I would go down each evening to get me a snack. I noticed a couple of employees/ cashiers , each time I used my debit card, they would pick up their phone as though they were texting. And I would think ro myself, "why can't that wait... why hold me up while you type on your phone". I think now, they were using scanners to hack nearby debit cards. I didn't learn about this until I spoke wth the bank. The bank said hospitals were the number one place this happens. I'm asking you guys to PLEASE monitor your cameras to see if the cashiers are part of this crime ring or stop allowing them to have phones at the registers. It could possibly save many people a ton of headache and inconvenience

James S. Jenkins, MD installed a MitraClip, which is a device used to repair a leaking mitral valve through minimally invasive TEER surgery. I've had no Post-OP problems and I'm continuing to feel more and more better than I did before the procedure. And, Patrick E. Parrino, MD was there to do a valve replacement, if necessary, Plan "B". Zero problems, 14 days Post-OP, so the surgical team from prep, put me to sleep guy and the Docs did a stellar repair on my old butt! If you have a leaky valve and feel tired all the time, research the MitraClip and consider Dr. Jenkins if you decide to have the TEER repair. It's all a SSC (Short Stay Cardiology) thing!
